Skool Boyz

Though interrupted by a couple of years, Skool Boyz was a continuation of Taste; the same associates — Stan Sheppard (lead), Chauncey Matthews (vocals and keyboards), and Fred Brown (vocals and electric guitar) — comprised Flavor, with William “Billy” Sheppard (vocals and bass electric guitar), Stan’s sibling, the new child on the market. Stan sung with Triple S with Steve and Sterling Grain between his stints with Taste and Skool Boyz. Billy and Stan will be the sons of R&B star Costs “Bunky” Sheppard. At least two singles made an appearance on Destiny Information: “Can We REPEAT” occupied the A-side of their November 1981 debut as well as the B-side of their Feb 1982 parting shot, “This Sense Must Be True.” A brief spell on Crossroad Information produced “PRIOR TO GOING” (Oct 1983), accompanied by “Breakin’ Out” in 1984. A significant break emerged in 1984 when Columbia Information had taken them on, but after four singles — debuting with “Slide Apart” — and two albums, the problem dissolved disappointingly. Their self-produced debut record Skool Boyz got some great ballads “Nothin’ Such as a Gradual Dance,” “PRIOR TO GOING” (the Future one), “You Will be the Best Thing in my own Life,” plus some rhythmic up-tempo amounts, but the product sales didn’t similar the glowing testimonials. The record, in part, was released on Future Records and included, like a following CBS record, new material plus some off their Crossroad stint. The lady viewing “Superfine (From Behind)” arrived in 1985, but fizzled after a hopeful begin. A follow-up fared no better, nor do a final record entitled This is actually the Genuine Thing. The group disbanded and proceeded to go their separate methods, guitarist Billy Sheppard finished up in YOU SHOULD, a LA trio that documented on 4th & Broadway Information in 1988. His sibling, Stan, constructed the group and created their recordings. Stan got off into creating, writing, and organizing for most others, including Gerald Alston, the Temptations, the Pointer Sisters, Dazzie Dee, Troy Hinton, and Gene Grain, who’s kin to Stan’s outdated cohorts, the Grain twins. Matthews and Dark brown worked well behind the moments as session males and support vocalists following the breakup.
