Shootin’ Pains

Merging two rich traditions of Texas music — ranting punk rock and roll and rootsy acoustic country — Shootin’ Aches and pains feature two members from the legendary Austin strap the Dicks, Buxf Bird and Pat Deason, with acoustic guitars and banjos running their tales of like gone wrong, a global gone haywire, as well as the myriad eccentricities that are portion and parcel of life in the Lone Star Condition. With Bird on banjo and vocals and Deason on drums and vocals, Shootin’ Aches and pains also feature Tag Kenyon (ex-the Punkaroos) on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and vocals; Todd Kassens (previously with Shoulder blades) on acoustic guitar and vocals; and Tom Fairchild on bass and vocals. Explaining their music as “goat f***in’ psycho-Ameracommunist folk rock and roll,” Shootin’ Aches and pains made their documenting debut in 2003 using the EP Madman’s Journal, and their first full-length recording, Mean Aged Moon, premiered in 2005. Another LP, Pray CONSTANTLY, arrived in 2008.
