Sheila Majid

With her ultra-sensual vocals and uplifting musical approach, Sheila Majid has quickly increased to the top echelon of Malaysia’s musical scene. Her debut recording, Dimensi Baru (New Sizing), went yellow metal almost when it had been released in 1985. Her 4th recording, Lagende (Tale), released in 1990, exceeded triple platinum position. In 1995, her duet with Malaysian vocalist Nora, “Jentayu,” received honours as Greatest Vocal Efficiency in an organization and Best Music of the entire year. Majid’s rise to popularity started in 1982 when she auditioned for maker Roslan Aziz, who got heard her performing informally at a party in the Raintree Golf club in Kuala Lumpur. Performing a genuine tune, “YOU HAVE TO KNOW RIGHT NOW,” in the audition, Majid impressed Aziz a lot that he authorized her to a documenting agreement despite having no affiliation having a label. Majid and Aziz consequently fell in like and were wedded. Financing the documenting costs of Majid’s debut recording, Dimensi Baru, Aziz started looking for a label ready to launch it. His labors proceeded to go unfulfilled for just two years as the documenting was regarded as “an excessive amount of light jazz and R&B.” Finally convincing EMI release a it in 1985, the recording was an instantaneous strike. Majid’s second recording, Emosi (Feelings), released the next year, was similarly successful. Using the launch of her third recording, Warna (Colours), in 1987, Majid became the first Malaysian designer release a a CD. Not only is it a superstar in Malaysia, Majid has generated a strong pursuing in Japan. Her record, Wanita (Girl), featuring music previously unavailable in Japan, premiered exclusively in Japan in 1993.
