Shahram Shiva

What of early-13th century Persian mystic and poet Rumi become more active through the performances of poet, actor, and author Shahram Shiva. The just major performer to provide Rumi’s poetry in both British translations and the initial Persian, Shiva was defined by avant-garde composer Philip Cup being a “prosperity of brand-new and quite gorgeous translations,” and composer and performer Robert Arthur Fish’s debut record, Fish in the Desert, included the series “Shahram speaks using the fervor of historic Sufi get good at Rumi.” A longtime devotee of Eastern mystical customs, Shiva started translating Rumi’s poetry in 1988 and provided his first open public functionality four years afterwards. From Apr 25 to Might 5, 1998, Shiva’s opera Before Following Whirl was provided at La Mama in NY, with Shiva in the business lead role. Shiva may be the writer of three books: Rumi, Thief of Rest: Quatrains in the Persian, Hush Don’t State Anything to God: Passionate Poems of Rumi, and Reading the Veil: The Literal and Poetic Trance of Rumi.
