Rodney Jones

An underrated cool-toned guitarist who noises at his best in straight-ahead configurations, Rodney Jones had his highest presence during his period with Dizzy Gillespie (1976-1979), when he is at his early twenties. Jones experienced previously caused Jaki Byard and documented with Chico Hamilton, and he’d follow the association with Gillespie by doing work for a period as Lena Horne’s accompanist. Like a leader, Jones offers documented for Timeless (in 1978 and 1981), the RR label, and in the past due ’80s for Small Music.
