Rod Davis

Fishing rod Davis was the banjo participant in the Quarrymen in 1957, if they were in their most skiffle-oriented. He was asked to become listed on the group by guitarist Eric Griffiths, who like Quarry Guys head John Lennon was students on the Quarry Loan provider SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL for Children. Davis was mind boy at the institution, in fact, and it’s really interesting that he and Lennon, who was simply documented as an unhealthy pupil and troublemaker, would engage also briefly in the same undertaking. Davis provides recalled that he wished to add even more skiffle with their repertoire, whereas Lennon wished to play even more rock & move. So also if Davis hadn’t drifted from the group around the center of 1957, soon after John Lennon and Paul McCartney fulfilled, he probably wouldn’t possess lasted a lot longer anyhow, as the music group evolved into even more of a rock and roll outfit on the way to getting the Beatles, and wouldn’t experienced the need for any banjo in that set up. Oddly, Davis do make an archive in 1961 within a band known as the Trad Grads, where time he performed mandolin, fiddle, banjo, electric guitar, concertina, and melodeon. Within a 1997 problem of Record Collector, he stated that whenever he informed Lennon concerning this in early 1962, Lennon “stated, ‘You don’t play the drums, perform you? We are in need of a drummer to get back to Hamburg.'” Whether that is true or not really, Davis, who had opted to Cambridge School, did not head to Hamburg using the Beatles. Davis became a university lecturer, and in 1994, he performed over the Quarry Guys reunion album Open up for Engagements (which highlighted only one various other musician who acquired performed in the Quarrymen in the ’50s, Duff Lowe). He also used ex-Quarrymen Fishing rod Davis, Eric Griffiths, Pete Shotton, and Colin Hanton over the 40th wedding anniversary from the Quarry Guys gig of which John Lennon and Paul McCartney initial fulfilled.
