Phil Roy was raised in Philadelphia through the ’70s, when Philly spirit ruled the airwaves. As a guitarist (beginning at age group nine, his instructor is at Gamble & Huff’s home music group), hearing jazz from John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock led Roy to review at Berklee.
