Next Step Up

Shaped in 1991 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, by Mike Ayres (guitar) and Aaron Martinek (bass, ex-Corrupted), NEXT THING Up attempted several musicians before eventually buying a line-up of Damon Stowell (drums, ex-Premonition), J.R. Cup (vocals) and Jon Sampson (bass). Sampson became a member of after Martinek got vacated his placement immediately following classes for his or her Fall From Elegance recording. Their gruff, extreme mix of doom metallic and hardcore got previously been recorded on many compilations, an EP, Purpose To Destroy, and their debut recording, Heavy. Nevertheless, neither this nor the next Fall From Elegance provided anything of significant musical vitality, regardless of the creation assistance of Drew Mazurek (Corrosion Of Conformity).
