Natto Quartet

This San Francisco-based band of improvisation veterans explore the outer edges of sound as the Natto Quartet. The uncommon instrumentation contains shakuhachi participant Philip Gelb and Shoko Hikage on koto with pianist Chris Dark brown and Tim Perkis on consumer electronics. Gelb, Hikage, and Perkis acquired performed jointly as Trio Natto before adding Dark brown. A live documenting of the concert on the Headlands Middle for the Arts in 2002 led to the problem of their initial album, Headlands, the next year.
