Morton Downey

Given birth to in Connecticut in 1901, Morton Downey was a favorite entertainer through the pre-World Battle II period. A light tenor nicknamed “The Irish Nightingale,” Downey starred in movies and on the cabaret circuit and radio, generating the honor Radio Vocalist of the entire year in 1932. The daddy of notorious Television talk-show sponsor Morton Downey, Jr., Downey Sr. passed away in 1985.
