Michael Musillami began his professional profession being a respected, straight-ahead mainstream jazz guitarist, but over time has turned into a distinct existence over the creative improvisers picture, most notably being a composer. Blessed in Sacramento, CA on July 28, 1953, his parents had been supportive of his blossoming skill, though these were not really music artists themselves. Originally swayed by rock and roll music due to his electrical, amplified device, Musillami’s early motivation originated from jazz players like Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Mls Davis, and Costs Evans. Originally enrolling at American River University, there for just two years and thinking about anthropology, he used guitar research in Compton with the fantastic Joe Diorio in 1979 before proceeding east in the first ’80s. He linked to John Mehegan in 1982 in Westport, CT, after that Ted Dunbar in Camden, NJ. Skillfully, Musillami was employed in body organ combos with Richard “Groove” Holmes and Bobby Buster, amongst others. Like a sideman, he also performed alongside Junior Make, Dewey Redman, or Curtis Fuller, and linked to music artists who performed in the Hillside Golf club in Waterbury, CT, including even more intensifying thinkers Thomas Chapin and Mario Pavone. After many recordings on self-employed labels you start with The YOUNGSTER (Stash Information, 1990) and Cup Art (Proof,1992), Musillami founded the Playscape label in 1999 to permit a far more self-determining element in making unique music along with his handpicked close friends and colleagues. A number of the music artists Musillami invited to become listed on the fold consist of Peter Madsen, Drew Gress, Matt Wilson, Joe Fonda, and George Schuller. Playscape offers created over 40 CD’s of innovative progressive and contemporary mainstream jazz music, twelve or so through the guitarist like a leader. Furthermore to documenting and carrying out, Musillami continues to be also the longtime movie director of jazz research in the Hotchkiss College in Lakeville, CT.
