Matthew Halsall

A MOBO-nominated trumpeter, composer, and innovator born and located in Manchester, Britain, Matthew Halsall pulls from modal and religious jazz, inspired by Alice and John Coltrane and Kilometers Davis, among numerous others. Additionally, he’s a DJ with passions that range between traditional jazz to modern experimental digital music. His 1st album like a innovator, 2008’s Sending My Like, was the 1st launch on Manchester’s Gondwana label. From that time, he continuing to record for the label at a reliable rate, like the albums Color Yes (2009), the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Award-winning On the run (2011), and Fletcher Moss Recreation area (2012). In 2014, his structure “The Video games We Played” made an appearance on vocalist Zara McFarlane’s IN THE EVENT THAT YOU Knew Her. Halsall also added trumpet and results to two slashes on Mr. Scruff’s Friendly Bacterias. Later in the entire year, with support through the eight-member Gondwana Orchestra, he released his 5th record, When the Globe Was One.
