Marine Research shaped in past due 1997 being a continuation of Heavenly — who disbanded the last calendar year following tragic suicide of drummer Mathew Fletcher. With the rest of the four-fifths of Heavenly shifting with drummer John Stanley (aka DJ Downfall), Amelia Fletcher (vocals), Cathy Rogers (vocals/keyboards), Rob Pursey (bass), and Peter Momtchiloff (electric guitar) continued making use of their formulation of uppity twee-pop and punk rock and roll undertones that main back off their Talulah Gosh times. Immediately launching their debut one “Queen B” in 1998 along with a divide EP with Created to Spill, K Information eventually agreed upon the Oxford quintet that led to the Compact disc EP Parallel Horizons as well as the full-length Noises from the Gulf Stream down the road that same calendar year.
