Magic City Hippies

Formerly referred to as the Robby Hunter Band, Miami, Florida-based self-proclaimed “indie funk” outfit Magic City Hippies focus on a breezy mixture of hip-hop, funk, pop, and beach-bum soul which has drawn comparisons to famous brands G Love & Special Sauce, John Mayer, Maroon 5, and Jack Johnson. The band’s roots begin with vocalist/songwriter Hunter, who spent his formative years busking and playing loop-driven single shows. Sick and tired of the grueling one-man present routine, Hunter ultimately recruited drummer Pat Howard and bass participant John Coughlin in to the fold, as well as the recently dubbed Robby Hunter Music group was created. As the hometown trio’s repertoire and concert timetable grew, so do their group of fans, and by 2015 that they had extended to a five-piece and renamed themselves Magic Town Hippies, following the 2013 Robby Hunter Music group LP from the same name.
