Lucky Soul

The sugary, retro-minded sounds of Lucky Spirit are manufactured by Toby Fogell (bass), Ali Howard (vocals), Andrew Laidlaw (guitar), Ivor Sims (guitar), and Nathaniel L. Perkins (drums). The London-based quintet, which delivers a enchanting ’50s-designed pop sound that’s component Sandie Shaw and component Ronettes, shaped in early 2005 upon the demise of Perkins and Laidlaw’s unique group. After adding Howard’s candied vocals as well as the organized musicianship of Sims and Fogell, the Lucky Spirit package was full. A concert alongside the Pipettes designated Lucky Soul’s debut efficiency in June, as well as the band’s debut solitary, “My Brittle Center/Provide Me Like,” became an instant hit with United kingdom music critics. Its follow-up, the shimmery “Lip area Are Disappointed,” found its way to June 2006 over the Ruffa Street label.
