Lovie Lee

Best known while Muddy Waters’ last piano accompanist, the sadly underrecognized Lovie Lee was a longtime staple from the Chicago golf club circuit. Created Eddie Lee Watson in Chattanooga, TN on March 17, 1909, he worked well throughout the day as a manufacturer woodworker, honing his abilities each night within the Chicago blues night clubs through the ’50s onward; the adoptive dad of harpist Carey Bell, he obtained an impressive regional reputation as time passes, but was small known beyond the Midwest regardless of his association with Waters through the legend’s last years. In 1984 and 1989, Lee documented a lot of the materials which later on comprised his 1992 launch Good Candy, that was curved out by latter-day attempts lower with Bell; his lone single release, it as well garnered small notice. Lee passed away Might 23, 1997.
