Lake Trout

Although originally lumped as well as lots of the so-called jam bands, Lake Trout’s sound, mixing components of myriad modern styles, developed about a harder-edged intensifying indie rock attack. Created while bandmembers had been attending music college in Baltimore in the middle-’90s, the quintet presented Woody Ranere on vocals and acoustic guitar; Ed Harris on acoustic guitar; Mike Lowry on drums; Wayne Griffith on electrical bass; and Matt Pierce on keyboards, flute, and vocals. Their early audio — which mixed jazz with hip-hop, sketching on the task of the Tribe Called Mission, Beck, Pat Martino, and Al Green — was recorded on the self-titled record, released by SNS Information. Immediately after the album’s launch, the music group was launched to drum’n’bass and digital music generally. The sound started to creep its method in to the band’s strategy. This led to their second recording for SNS, Quantity for the others from it. The music group soon discovered likeminded spirits in the jam music group scene, with organizations just like the Disco Biscuits, Sound Tribe Sector 9, and the brand new Deal all tinkering with the integration of digital elements to their particular looks. Lake Trout briefly agreed upon using a jam band-based label, Phoenix Increasing, which they released By itself finally, a live record recorded in Dec 1999 in Virginia, capturing a place performed with DJ Who, who made an appearance frequently using the music group. What separated Lake Trout from various other jam rings was their dedication to recurring minimalism, a characteristic drawn even more from Philip Cup and Steve Reich than Phish as well as the Pleased Deceased. Lake Trout could actually build bits of music gradually and thoughtfully. This is because of a strange mix of the fast and propulsive breakbeat drumming of Lowry and the individual design playing of Harris. By early 2001, the group was starting to integrate even more traditionally rock and roll & roll affects (as were a lot of their contemporaries). Without abandoning the live digital components, Lake Trout befriended rings like the Tumor Conspiracy and Dismemberment Program. By middle-2002, that they had created Another One Shed — an archive of dark, Radiohead-like feeling explorations — that they released individually, while SNS Information (who these were still under agreement to) pursued legal actions. In 2005 the music group issued the recording Not really Them, You on Hand Pictures.
