Kyoka

Experimental digital musician Kyoka began taking piano lessons like a preschooler and continuing until she was an adolescent. During this time period, she attempted tape recorders and itched to improvise and make music of her personal. After she remaining her home to review economics in Tokyo, she bought a Roland MC-505 — a drum machine, sequencer, and MIDI controller — and documented tracks that resulted in her first produces for the Onpa label. Some glitchy electro-pop albums entitled Ufunfunfufu started in 2008, with 2 Ufunfunfufu and Ufunberlinfunfufuliveatnbi2009 pursuing in ’09 2009, and 3 Ufunfunfufu concluding the series this year 2010. These produces brought about a link with German experimental techno label Raster-Noton, which released Kyoka’s EP ISH (2012) and recording Is (Is usually Superpowered) (2014). A processed set that turned from gentle digital pop to slim industrial techno, Is usually (Is usually Superpowered) preceded an appearance on CI, the debut full-length from Raster-Noton market leaders Byetone and Alva Noto’s Gemstone Version task. In 2016, Kyoka released a short experimental EP entitled SH.
