Though guitarist John Norum was a significant section of Countdown-era European countries, he remaining the band — right before its world-wide success — like a a reaction to its developing industrial sensibilities. He started recording a single recording with vocalist Goran Edman, drummer Peter Hermansson, and bassist Marcel Jacob; the effect was 1987’s Total Control. He documented the live recording Reside in Stockholm the next 12 months; collaborated with Don Dokken; and documented a second studio room album, Face the reality, in 1992.
