John Linnell

Best known as you 1 / 2 of goof-pop duo THEY COULD BE Giants, vocalist/songwriter/accordionist John Linnell was created June 12, 1959 in NEW YORK; while we were young in Lincoln, MA, he befriended one John Flansburgh, and jointly they began composing music. Linnell and Flansburgh proceeded to go their separate methods after graduating senior high school, with the previous signing up for the little-known Rhode Isle new wave music group the Mundanes; nevertheless, in 1981 both relocated to Brooklyn, NY, where they started writing and documenting as They MAY BE Giants. Making use of their foolish, catchy pop music and wacky movies, the duo surfaced as cult favorites within the wake of the self-titled 1986 LP, ultimately signing to main label Elektra. Both also pursued single tasks, with Linnell launching a set of single EPs, State Music and Hall of Mayors, on TMBG’s Hello Documenting Membership label; an extended version of Condition Songs followed over the Zoë imprint in 1999, twelve months after he was called alongside luminaries including Leonardo DiCaprio and Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf among the world’s Ten Most Beautiful People within an online poll sponsored by People newspaper.
