Joel Hopkins

b. 3 January 1904, Centreville, Tx, USA, d. 15 Feb 1975, Galveston, Tx, USA. An elder sibling of Lightnin’ Hopkins, guitarist Joe discovered his trade from Blind Lemon Jefferson if they travelled jointly through the 20s. Joel Hopkins spent the majority of his lifestyle working beyond music, however in 1947 he followed his sibling Lightin’ on his well-known Gold Star documenting of ‘Brief Haired Girl’. He resurfaced in 1959 to record a small number of archaic Tx blues for historian and folklorist Mack McCormick. The last mentioned section of his lifestyle was spent in sick wellness, and he passed away from a coronary attack in 1975.
