The sparingly named Om reunites the oft-heralded Rest rhythm portion of Al Cisneros (bass, vocals) and Chris Haikus (drums); but this time around, rather than making monolithic stoner/doom steel, the duo is targeted on the softer, if believe it or not hypnotic make of drone rock and roll, partially infused with monastic and Tibetan chanting. Since reconnecting in 2004, the duo provides released its epic sonic meditations in the form of break up EPs with famous brands Current 93 and Six Organs of Admittance, and albums like 2005’s Variants on a style, 2006’s Conference from the Parrots, and 2007’s Pilgrimage.
