Bob and Joe Shelton were among the more lucrative sibling works of their period, at least predicated on the amount of recordings they produced — 150 edges lower for Decca alone, aswell as tracks for Victor and Ruler. Bob Attlesey (b. July 4, 1909) and Joe Attlesey (b. January 27, 1911) had been given birth to in Reilly Springs, in Hopkins Region, TX. Through the ’20s, these were listening to performers like Peg Moreland and Jimmie Rodgers on Victor, and had been producing music themselves, Bob performing and playing acoustic guitar and fiddle, and Joe on vocals, acoustic guitar, and mandolin. They performed locally and relocated to Longview, TX, and to Tyler, TX, where they found a short-term partner, Leon Chappelear. The trio documented for the very first time in Chicago in 1933, for Bluebird, functioning beneath the name the Lone Superstar Cowboys.
