The Royal Vacations, a Detroit-based group, began singing in 1955, and like many sets of the time, started on the road corners and in the parks. The group contains: Vernon Williams (1st tenor/lead), Chester Scott (also 1st tenor/lead), Kenneth Fuqua (second tenor/lead), Jerry Wallace (baritone), and Charles Farley (bass). Having no unique materials of their personal, Vernon Williams was “recruited” through Chester Scott, not merely for his performing ability, also for his composing skills.
