Jerry Blake

An excellent journeyman participant, Jerry Blake had a good profession before healthy problems completely forced him away of music. Blake, who visited college in Nashville, began within the violin before switching to alto and clarinet. After using the Sells-Fioto Circus Music group in 1924, he was stranded in Chicago where he quickly became a member of Al Wynn’s group. Blake caused Bobby Lee and Charlie Turner’s Arcadians and spent a lot of 1928-29 in European countries with Sam Wooding. He used Chick Webb, Zach Whyte’s Chocolates Beau Brummels, Don Redman (1933-34) and back in European countries with Willie Lewis (1934-35). Time for the U.S., Blake obtained some acknowledgement for his use Claude Hopkins, Fletcher Henderson (1936-38) and Cab Calloway (1938-42) where he finished up becoming the musical movie director. However after brief stints with Count number Basie, Earl Hines, Lionel Hampton and Don Redman during 1942-43, Jerry Blake (who by no means led an archive day of his personal) experienced a mental break down that he never retrieved. He spent a lot of the others of his existence inside a mental institution.
