Created in 1967, Humphrey & the Dumptrucks comprised Humphrey Dumptruck, Michael Taylor and Michael Miller. From Saskatchewan, Canada, the trio combined folk, nation and bluegrass on five albums through the 1970s. Their 1971 debut, Six Times of Paper Women, was accompanied by Sizzling Spit (1972), Saskatoon (1973), Gopher Suite (1975) and Music from Cruel Tears (1978), a compilation from the band’s 1975 nation opera, Cruel Tears.
