Herva Doce

The group Herva Doce achieved countrywide success using the mega-hit “Erva Venenosa.” The group’s most significant functionality was on June 18, 1983, if they opened up for Kiss on the Maracanã (Rio de Janeiro), playing for 140,000 people. On the Maracanazinho, Herva Doce also opened up for Truck Halen (the initial lineup). “Faz Parte perform Meu Display” (Renato Ladeira/Cazuza) released with the group, became a smash in Cazuza’s rendition, and was regarded the best melody of the entire year by some critics. Herva Doce was produced in the Carnaval of 1982 when Marcelo Sussekind and Renato Ladeira documented a demonstration tape filled with “Volta Meu Bem,” “Ganhei Um Avião,” “O Negócio é Relaxar,” and “Não Faz Sentido.” With “Volta Meu Bem” getting great airplay on Rádio Cidade, each of them requested an interview with EMI Odeon, having been employed on the problem that they form a music group. The 1st drummer was Sérgio Della Mônica (from Ney Matogrosso’s support music group), who documented Herva Doce’s 1st single comprising “Volta Meu Bem” and “Ganhei Um Avião.” With Della Mônica’s departure because of his responsibilities with Matogrosso, the music group was reformulated with Paul De Castro (in the beginning bass, then acoustic guitar), Roberto Lly (bass), and Pena (drums). Their 1st LP premiered in November 1982. The group underwent a big change in its formation when it remaining EMI Odeon for RCA, learning to be a quartet (Renato Ladeira, keyboards/vocals; Fred Maciel, drums/vocals; Roberto Lly, bass/vocals; and Marcelo Sussekind, acoustic guitar/vocals). Their third LP experienced another nationwide strike with “Amante Profissional” (Roberto Lly), a music that experienced three music video clips made by different TV channels/makers (Television Cultura São Paulo, Television Globo, Billy Relationship).
