Helen Hooke

Helen Hooke was initially known in her 1970s incarnation because the motivated fiddler for the nation/feminist/rock and roll touring music group, Deadly Nightshade. While Olivia and Redwood had been just beginning, and even though Hooke fulfilled and befriended lots of the Women’s Music pioneers, Lethal Nightshade released two albums (The Lethal Nightshade and F & W) over the RCA label, received press in Moving Stone, THE BRAND NEW York Situations, and Ms. newspaper simply because harbingers of feminism, and performed together with of feminist luminaries simply because Bella Abzug and Gloria Steinem, and for the present time. In the middle-1980s, after performing more music that may go nationwide, after several even more rings and managers, Hooke made a decision to released her next recording individually: Verse-Ability (Montana Blake Productions, 1988). Content with her participation within the music from starting to end, attracted to the Women’s Music and Tradition circuit where such independent creation can be done — she came out in the 1991 Michigan Womyn’s Music Event with the 1991 Association of Women’s Music and Tradition Annual Meeting — Hooke lately released her fresh album, YOUR A Rocket (Montana Blake Productions, 1992).
