An LL Awesome J disciple, Grandmaster Slice recorded a set of strikes, the slick golf club melody “Shall We Dance (Electric powered Slide)” as well as the industrial R&B monitor “Thinking about You” (a straight tamer takeoff on “I WANT Love”). Created and elevated in small-town southern Virginia, Cut strike the rap video game like a pre-teenager and DJed for an area group called Ebony Express. He later on hooked up having a previous rival, Scratchmaster Chuck T, and in 1989 the duo created a dance record called “Shall We Dance (Electric powered Slide),” for the indie Select-O-Hits. It became popular within the rap graphs, and was found by Creative Push, who released an LP aswell (Shall We Dance). After shifting once more, to Jive, Cut reached the singles graphs using the crossover-heavy “Thinking about You.” A follow-up had not been within the wings, though; nine years approved before Grandmaster Cut reached the graphs once again, with “Strokin’ 2000” within the Wingspan label.
