Gayle Young

Canadian contemporary composer and performer Gayle Youthful is well known not just on her behalf compositions, also for her musical invention (the amaranth), on her behalf use of uncommon tunings, so that as the editor of Musicworks magazine. She’s created audio sculptures and music because the past due ’70s and, in 1980, constructed the amaranth, a 24-stringed device using a moveable bridge (she acquired previously designed another microtonal device known as the Columbine). Furthermore, she has constructed for installations by sculptor Reinhard Eaitzenstein, performed in the Check Pipes, and authored a biography of Canadian composer and scientist Hugh LeCaine.
