Gardener

The brainchild of Seaweed’s Aaron Stauffer (vocals/guitars) as well as the Screaming Trees’ Van Conner (guitars, keyboards, drums), Gardener’s origins day back again to the past due ’80s, when Stauffer skipped a show from the Screaming Trees on his 16th birthday. He started calling the music group frequently, inviting these to play with him; ultimately, he as well as the music group became friends. In the mean time, Stauffer created Seaweed with drummer Alan Cage, bassist John Atkins, and guitarist Clint Werner. As the Seattle picture gained world-wide prominence, Seaweed as well as the Trees and shrubs discovered themselves touring collectively frequently. Throughout a 1996 U.K. tour, both organizations finally collaborated, composing two songs that could show up on Gardener’s 1999 debut recording New Dawning Period. The brand new group put into their lineup when Conner recruited his sibling Pat (sitar, drums) and friend Adrian Makins (bass, slip guitar). Soon after, Stauffer relocated to North California to pursue a far more rural, rugged existence, penning more tunes and incorporating even more users — including a tabla participant and a flutist — into Gardener. Their debut presented a far more expansive, organized audio than that of either the Screaming Trees and shrubs or Seaweed, with flourishes of sitar, Mellotron, and flute as opposed to the charged rock audio of Gardener’s mother or father bands.
