Gabriel Ríos

Though given birth to in Puerto Rico, Gabriel Ríos vaulted to stardom while surviving in Belgium, having a similarly pan-cultural digital pop approach embracing components of rock, hip-hop, and salsa. Given birth to in 1978, Ríoperating-system learned to try out acoustic guitar from his dad, and as a teenager became a member of his church’s choir. At 18 he relocated from Latin America to Ghent, Belgium, along with his then-girlfriend, learning painting while playing in regional bands like the Nothing at all Bastards and L. Santo. As time passes, Ríoperating-system’ music started channeling the rhythmic affects of salsa, bomba, and plena, and finally he befriended Jo Bogaert, the Belgian maker most widely known for his use home music hitmakers Technotronic, famous for the worldwide smash “INCREASE the Jam” — collectively they began focus on Ríoperating-system’ 2004 debut LP, Ghostboy, a crucial and industrial smash over the BeNeLux countries. A stopgap live recording, En Vivo, adopted a year later on, and in early 2007 Ríoperating-system resurfaced along with his second studio room effort, Angelhead. 3 years later on, he collaborated with Belgian pianist Jef Neve for The Harmful Return.
