Beyond Gregg Allman, drummer Butch Vehicles is the just person in Georgia’s venerable Allman Brothers Music group who’s still within the lineup and it has appeared on every recording. But during among the Allman’s lulls in activity through the middle-’90s, Trucks made a decision to come up with a side task that would enable him to perform along with his nephew (and long term Allman Brothers guitarist), Derek Vehicles. The elder Vehicles known as the group Frogwings, additionally recruiting Aquarium Save Unit people Oteil Burbridge (bass, vocals), Jimmy Herring (acoustic guitar), and Count number Mbutu (percussion), Allman Brothers percussionist Marc Quinones, plus keyboardist John Herbert and vocalist/guitarist Edwin McCain. The music group performed club displays through 1997, and by another year, Mbutu got remaining and Herbert have been changed by another Aquarium Save Device member, keyboardist/flutist Kofi Burbridge. Prolonged instrumentals like “Kick n Bach” hint on the Georgia jazz fusion from the Aquarium Recovery Unit; jamming quantities like “Design” present an Allman Brothers impact, and Popper’s vocals and harmonica are similar to Blues Traveller on “Ganja.” The blazing Herring and fresh Trucks (similarly adept at glide electric guitar and fingerpicking) mix their strengths beautifully; Popper and bassist Burbridge (also with the Allman Brothers today) provide extra firepower, and keyboardist/sibling Burbridge, Quinones, and Vehicles man the building blocks of the uncategorizable jam music group for the brand new millennium.
