Frank Walker

Frank Walker may be the John Hammond of nation music. Doing work for Columbia in the first ’20s, he was in charge of getting blues belter Bessie Smith towards the label. Furthermore, he also authorized the Skillet Lickers, composing and creating their popular “Corn Licker Still in Georgia” regular. Walker also helped arrange saving classes for Charlie Poole and Vernon Dalhart, and his recordings of Cajun musician Louis Falcon are one of the primary recorded works of this design of music. Later on Walker shifted to MCA where he got his biggest seafood of all, getting Hank Williams Jr. towards the label before retiring through the industry altogether.
