Ernesto Djédjé

The Ivory Coast’s premier music export from the 1970s, Ernesto Djédjé is widely credited as the creator of his homeland’s first truly distinctive nationwide music, fusing international sounds and styles using the rhumba rhythms from the Congo to introduce what’s now referred to as ziglibithy. Given birth to in 1948 in Tahiraguhé, Djédjé started playing acoustic guitar at age group 15 and was quickly invited to become listed on Amédée’s Ivoiro Celebrity, probably one of the most well-known regional rings of its period.
