Eric Demarsan

Eric DeMarsan is among the best soundtrack composers and arrangers in France. Since producing his debut using the 1966 film Diapason, DeMarsan has truly gone on to use a few of France’s leading filmmakers. After furnishing preparations and orchestrations for Jean-Pierre Melville’s Chevaliers du Ciel and Samouri, he approved an invitation to compose the rating for Melville’s L’Armee des Ombres and Le Cercle Rouge. He also caused such filmmakers as Jean Pourtale (5% de Risques), Carlos Costa-Gravas (Section Speciale), Patrice Leconte (Les Specialistes), and Pierre Zucca (Roberte Ce Soir). DeMarsan’s compositions for French tv include the ratings of Sebastian Parmi les Hommes, La Derniere Fete, and Clarissa. Taught to try out the piano by his grandmother, DeMarsan was playing frequently in Monmarte nightclubs by age 18. After collaborating with composers Bernard Dimey and Marian Kouzan during late-night songwriting classes, he spent 2 yrs sharpening his abilities under the assistance of Michel Magne, who trained him orchestration as well as the art of composing for movies. DeMarsan received a renowned SACEM reward for Best Documented Film Music in 1985. Although he decided to offer materials for an recording to be documented by French vocalist Michel Simon, the documenting was never finished.
