Donald Albery

b. Donald Arthur Rolleston Albery, 19 June 1914, London, Britain, d. 14 Sept 1988, Monte Carlo. A maker and theatre-owner, Albery originated from a family group steeped in theatrical background – his paternal grandfather was the playwright Wayne Albery, and his dad was Sir Bronson Albery, who founded what became the Culture of Western End Theatres. Donald Albery was informed in Switzerland before offering as general supervisor of Sadlers Wells Ballet from 1941-45. He began as a maker in 1953, and through the entire 50s and 60s provided or co-presented many notable plays, like the Living Room, LOOKING FORWARD TO Godot, A Flavor Of Honey and Who’s Scared Of Virginia Woolf?
