Don Chacal

Don Chacal became a specialist in 1968, quickly uncovering himself as a solid percussionist, having worked regularly with excellent instrumentalists. Until 1972 he was the percussionist from the Som Três (César Camargo Mariano, Sabá, and Toninho Pinheiro), also burning Wilson Simonal in a number of national and worldwide trips. In 1975 he joined up with Ney Matogrosso’s assisting band. Within the next yr he shifted to LA, becoming a member of Sérgio Mendes’ group, with which he performed until 1977.
