Dez Mona

Called after Othello’s wife in Shakespeare’s tragedy, Belgian outfit Dez Mona combine jazz, gospel, classical, and People from france chansons to make a sound which has been set alongside the likes of Nina Simone, Antony & the Johnsons, and Tom Waits. Created in 2003 by vocalist Gregory Frateur and bassist Nicolas Rombouts, they documented their 2005 debut recording, Pursued Sinners, inside a chapel before adding pianist Bram Weijters and drummer Steven Cassiers with their line-up for his or her 2007 sophomore work, Occasions of Dejection or Despondency. In ’09 2009, they recruited Chat Chat bassist Paul Webb to create their third studio room work, Hilfe Kommt. Saga premiered in 2011, accompanied by Dez Mona’s 5th studio recording, A Gentleman’s Contract, which found its way to 2012.
