De Dijk

Created in 1981 by brothers Huub and Hans van der Lubbe and friend Daniel Derks, De Dijk captured the wave of Dutch rock music, which they’ve ridden since. Having caused several Amsterdam-based organizations for near ten years with hardly any achievement, the brothers shifted their focus on their new task offering Dutch lyrics in 1981. Many rock rings in the region performed either British- or German-language materials, producing De Dijk something of the anomaly on the market at that time. The band’s 1982 debut record, De Dijk, was a massive success. Joined up with by keyboard participant Pim Kops and drummer Antonie Broek, De Dijk’s sophomore launch Nooit Meer Tarzan (1983) was underwhelming in both product sales and popularity, leading to the band to reduce its agreement with Dureco.
