Cabana

UK-based Latin house duo Cabana comprises vocalist Mirelle Diaz, daughter of leading Afro-Cuban percussionist Robin Jones, and her half-brother musician, Krystof Pietklewicz, formerly percussionist using the Style Council. The group produced its debut in Sept 1994 with ‘Bailondo Con Lobos’, the next launch on Polydor Record’s recently created dance offshoot, Hi Existence (after Kim British’s ‘Nitelife’). The record was made by Tom Frederikse, previously most widely known for his use D:Ream, and was advertised by a following tour. With remixes from Sasha, the Goodmen and Deep Recess, it became a club strike but didn’t replicate the feat of Hi there Life’s first solitary by breaching the united kingdom Top 40.
