Brandon Evans

New York-based multi-instrumentalist Brandon Evans was created in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 1972. He started playing music as an adolescent while students at the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Artwork Institute, and afterwards began monitoring and executing with jazz saxophonist Sonny Simmons. Ultimately, Evans relocated to Connecticut to review structure with Anthony Braxton at Wesleyan College or university. Even after shifting to NY in 1994, Evans continuing to work carefully with Braxton: he provides appeared on several Braxton’s recordings, and he frequently performed with Braxton as an associate of his Ghost Trance Outfit. After arriving in NY, Evans and Andre Vida also founded the Innovative Trans-Informational Alliance (CTIA), which arranged concerts offering prominent avant-garde jazz music artists. Evans’ very own music, often released by himself Parallactic label, explores a combined mix of improvisation and structure, that he is rolling out a new program of notation, known as the “‘Ellipsis & Elliptical Axis Notation Program.” And a number of single recordings, Evans in addition has appeared on disk with Simmons, Seth Misterka, Jackson Moore, Harris Eisenstadt, Martin Vanduynhoven, and Kevin Norton. Evans also functions as a filmmaker, and he developed a feature-length documentary about Simmons entitled Multiple Rated-X Truth.
