Bird Nest Roys

While most from the first-string Flying Nun bands started in Dunedin and continued to varying examples of success (often relocating to England), many mid-’80s signings originated from other areas of the united states and exhibited significantly less staying power. One particular music group was the Parrot Nest Roys, an Auckland six-piece that blazed their personal path while remaining pretty much inside the limits from the so-called “Dunedin Sound.” At least additional bands did just about a similar thing, but few released an recording as effective as the Roys’ self-titled 1986 work. There wasn’t a lot of a press to create it overseas, though, plus they disbanded without creating a follow-up. Just guitarist Dominic Rocks do anything of take note thereafter; he performed acoustic guitar in Snapper and used drums and added the first notice of his provided name towards the 3Ds, who continued to relative achievement. Within their work to unearth traditional Soaring Nun music, in 2013 the taste-making U.S. label Captured Paths released the aptly entitled Me Want Me Obtain Me Want Me Possess Me Like, a compendium of most band’s songs using one disc.
