Alex Sanders

Once referred to as the ruler of England’s witches, Alex Sanders was the creator from the Alexandrian custom of Wicca as well as perhaps the single most effective motivating drive in the religion’s changeover from only cult in the ’50s and early ’60s towards the formidable power it became thereafter. An irrepressible showman, Sanders was created Orrel Alexander Carter in Birkenhead on June 6, 1926; he was initiated in to the build at 13, but he’d maintain his past due thirties before he really started formulating his (therefore many other individuals’) potential. Accompanied by upcoming wife Maxine Morris, Sanders became adept at manipulating the mass media, first on an area level, but afterwards nationally, always using the avowed objective of publicizing his religious beliefs. This included performances within a string of exploitation films shot throughout the past due ’60s/early ’70s, and one today extremely collectible LP, A Witch EXISTS, released by A&M in 1970 and having a recording of the Wiccan initiation. As the 1970s transferred, Sanders slipped from the open public eye, ultimately breaking with Maxine and retiring into digital seclusion. He passed on on Beltane Eve, Apr 30, 1983.
