After All

Hastily come up with in 1969 with a veteran quartet of Tallahassee, FL, musicians and jointly for only a small number of months, IN THE END is only a footnote in the annals of later-’60s and Florida rock. Their one recorded effort, nevertheless, was a moody cut of acid-tinged intensifying pop that, while not among the best possible obscurities in the era, brings back again the grooviness and off-the-cuff adventurousness from the decade completely color. Every one of the associates of IN THE END had a brief history playing in a variety of tempo & blues and jazz rings, dating back again to the past due ’50s, executing at night clubs and parties through the entire Tallahassee area. Drummer Tag Ellerbee was clean out of Vietnam and a graduate from the Florida Condition College of Music when he bumped into fellow Florida Condition graduate and keyboardist Alan Silver, who was executing at that time in another of the area’s best night club rings. By adding fellow scenesters bassist Costs Moon and jazz guitarist Charles Brief, IN THE END was officially blessed. The group envisioned creating an idea record by knocking together a number of the era’s newest designs, from acidity and classical rock and roll to structural intricacy and surreal lyrics. To greatly help with the last mentioned, they enlisted a regional poet, Linda Hargrove, to supply the lyrics to many from the music. The band understood a Nashville maker who was ready to record a “spec recording” to them free provided if indeed they achieved it quickly, therefore they moved into the studio room in 1969 and documented After All inside a few days. Following a release from the recording on Athena Information, the instrumentalists came back to Florida and used their respective professions again. Hargrove, alternatively, continued to be in Nashville and carved out an excellent, if under-recognized, profession for herself like a country vocalist/songwriter and performer.
