Originating in the tiny city of Puna, Hello there, water is a rap-inflected alternative steel music group influenced by famous brands Alice in Stores, Tool, Trend Against the device, as well as the Deftones. The group shaped in 1997 having a lineup of vocalist Glynn Motoishi, guitarists Chris Albers and Isaiah McDonald, bassist Jason Paulsen, and drummer Frank Bianchini. The group self-released their eponymous 1st album in springtime 2000, and had been subsequently selected to take part in the 1st Coke-sponsored SONGS Awards competition for unsigned rings the following yr. Guitarist McDonald departed the group soon thereafter.
