Saddlesore

Saddlesore was an obscure Crimson Krayola spinoff of kinds, the lineup including Crimson Krayola mainstay Mayo Thompson and first Crimson Krayola drummer Rick Barthelme. Thompson and Barthelme co-wrote both edges of Saddlesore’s exclusive discharge, the 1970 one “Aged Tom Clark”/”Pig Ankle joint Strut,” which arrived on the Tx Trend label (around once as Thompson’s single album Corky’s Debts to His Dad, which also arrived on Tx Trend). “Aged Tom Clark” sounded rather such as a warped acid-folk cowboy ballad, while “Pig Ankle joint Strut” was even more in the rambling, oddly organised style of following Red Krayola produces through the past due ’70s onward, though with an increase of psychedelic-era instrumentation. Both edges of this uncommon 45 had been reissued in the Red Krayola Compact disc compilation Singles 1968-2002.
