Durian

Washington, D.C.’s art-punk combo Durian produced in 1997 and started gigging and saving almost instantly, self-releasing their debut record Tomorrow 6:30 afterwards that year. Through the entire remaining ’90s, the quintet — which includes vocalist Matt Hermann, guitarists Kevin Adams and Frank Stewart, bassist/vocalist Cameron Brock, and drummer Jason Merriman, afterwards changed by Derek Fricano — toured with rings just like the Dismemberment Program, the Wicked Farleys, and Sweep The Knee Johnny, and documented regularly, teaming up with J. Robbins simply because their manufacturer for 1998’s Goodwill/Dogtrack seven-inch, a tune that appeared in the 1999 compilation On Rules of Inertia and 2000’s second full-length, Occasionally You Scare Me.
