Among the important instrumentalists of carioca choro in the belle époque, Licas’ contemporaries were Anacleto de Medeiros, Irineu de Almeida, Pedro Augusto, Luís de Sousa, Candinho Trombone, Cupertino, Catulo da Paixão Cearense, Mário Cavaquinho, Sátiro Bilhar, as well as others, with whom he utilized to play frequently. Respectable as a respected participant by his co-workers, he was frequently requested for the unforgettable choros (also the name of the musical reunions themselves) of that time period. His softness and subtlety at imitating the violão (classical guitar) baixarias (bass lines) at his hard instrument were broadly appreciated.
