Whirimako Black

Maori vocalist Whirimako Dark formed a music group, Tuahine Whakairo, in 1991, but still left it 2 yrs later to be able to pursue a single career. Through the entire early 2000s, she released many albums, including 2001’s Hine Pukohurangi: Shrouded in the Mist, 2002’s Hohou Te Rongo: Cultivate Tranquility, 2004’s Tangihaku, 2005’s Kura Huna, and 2006’s Spirit Periods. The debut gained a 2001 New Zealand Music Award for Greatest Maori Language Record. She constructed and sang the game titles for THE BRAND NEW Zealand Wars, an application proven on TVNZ, and she also co-wrote the theme for Te Karere, a Maori information program.
